Book review | Kingdom Of The Wicked - Kerri Maniscalco

Kingdom Of The Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco is a wickedly good book. It's a spooky adventure full of romance.
Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are witches in the nineteenth century of Sicily. For years they have been warned against the Wicked, the princes of hell. One evening Vittoria goes missing and its Emilia who finds her body. Torn by grief Emilia vows to find the killer and take revenge. During her quest of finding the killer Emilia soon meets the handsome Wrath, one of the Wicked she was warned against. But is he really as dangerous as her grandmother has claimed for years? Together they learn that Vittoria was to be married to Pride, another of the Wicked. Why did Vittoria agree to marry one of the Wicked? And what did that have to do with her murder?
'Don't judge a book by its cover' is what people say, but in this case it is right to judge the book by its cover, because this cover is gorgeous and the book is as good as its cover promises. The cover is dark just like its story. The whole story has got a dark atmosphere which helps enhance the mysteriousness of this story. What I enjoyed most about this book is not knowing if Emilia can trust Wrath and at the same time wanting the romance between Emilia en Wrath to develop. And the plot twist at the end is the icing to the story. We learn who has killed Vittoria, but it is not someone expected.
I rate this book 5 stars and I cannot wait for the sequal 'Kingdom Of The Cursed' to be released. Book 2 is expected to be released in October 2021.
