Book review | Fable - Adrienne Young
Do you feel like taking a trip to the beach filled with pirates, but are are unable to go? Then read Fable by Adrienne Young. The book was released in september 2020 and is the first part of a duolgy. Its sequal Namesake is planned to be released in March 2021.
For four years Fable has had to survive on Jeval, the legendary island in The Narrows filled with thieves. She was left there by her father Saint, the most powerful trader of the sea. To survive Fable has had to live by Saints rules:
- Keep your knife wherever you can reach it.
- Never, ever owe anyone anything.
- Nothing is free.
- Always construct a lie from a truth.
- Never, under any circumstances, reveal what or who matters to you.
To reach her goal of getting off the island to find her father and claim a place on his ship, Fable needs the help of West, a young trader of the Marigold. While sailing on West's ship Fable soon learns that West hasn't always been truthful and must discover the truth of his identity. And thereis also the matterof her growing feelings towards West.
I couldn't put this book down. It had me from the first sentence: 'That bastard was leaving me again.' As a reader I was put right into the action and I wanted to know what was going on. The story was written so well that on every page I could hear the waves crashing and I could taste the salt of the sea. Fable is a kickass girl, a girl who knows how to take care of herself and is able to survive in a dangerous world.
I would rate this book with 5 stars. I loved everything about it and can't wait the read the sequal Namesake.
