Book review | A Court Of Thorns And Roses - Sarah J. Maas

14-11-2020

Are you a fan of Disney's The Beauty And The Beast? If your answer is 'yes' then you must read A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas, which is inspired by Disney's story.

The book is about Feyre, a 19 year old girl, who kills a faerie disguised as a wolf during one of her hunts. Soon after a beast knocks at her family's home to take Feyre to his court as a penalty. This beast turns out to be Tamlin, a handsome faerie and High Lord of the Spring Court. The longer Feyre stays at the Spring Court, the more she learns about the dark forces that have cursed Tamlin and his court and which are growing stronger. Time is running out, but is Feyre able to save Tamlin and his court?

The book is inspired by Beauty And The Beast so its love story is very similar to the Disney story. The romance is very slow, so Feyre and Tamlin don't like each other at first, but their feelings towards each other grow very slowly. This was written so well, that as a reader I also started to have feelings towards Tamlin. One of the best characters in this book is Rhysand. He is a bad guy, who is introduced half-way through the book. Even though he is a bad guy, he helps Feyre in the end, which makes us question if he really is a bad guy or not. I guess we will have to find out in the sequal.

This book is easily one of my favourites. Once I started reading I could not put the book down, because I wanted to find out more about the curse and if Feyre was able to break it. The first two-thirds of the books is slow and focuses on the romance, but once you get to the last third of the book you are in for a treat. The last third of the book is very exciting and leaves you wanting the sequal of this book. If you haven't read this book yet, what are you waiting for? Go read it now!
